This is a hands-on 2 day workshop for therapists who would like to add an extra dimension to their treatments whilst
looking after themselves. Using hot stones in a treatment combines the relaxation effect of heat with the therapeutic
effect of deep tissue work. The hot stones sink into the tissues enabling you to get deeper with more ease.
What is covered:
Principles of thermotherapy and stone energy
Preparing heating and safely use your stones
Massaging with the stones
Fusing hot stones with your existing massage skills
Resting, tucking and cocooning
Adapting your treatment
Cleaning and caring for your stones.
Hot stone massage is a specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones, either as an extension of
their own hands, or by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body. The heat can be both
deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly
Hot Stone massage therapy combines the benefits of hydrotherapy and thermalism (or thermotherapy – the use of heat
applications) with the strokes of massage using Stones to create a deep, relaxing and healing treatment. The heat of the
massage stones warms the skin, which allows for the absorption of moisturizing and therapeutic oils, while
simultaneously preparing the musculature of the body so the massage therapist can work into the deeper muscle layers.
